Let Them Eat Pie!

With so many fun filled days here at Twin Spring Farm, I realize now, that I keep writing about the “best” day…the one day of the summer that tops all of the others. It is only now, with 3 days left of camp that I understand that there has not been one “best” day all summer. They have all been the best! I think it’s even more appropriate to say that every day has gotten better which always beats the “best” day on every count because you know there will be more. Morning circle was one of those “best” days. It was a combination of Noodle Man and the swim team presenting the last medals of the summer and a special visit from Chef La Cookie who brought some of his delicious pies to camp this morning.

What kind of pies you ask? Blueberry of course. Chef La Cookie said that he only uses New Jersey blueberries and he picks them himself! What did we do with all of the pies Chef La Cookie brought? We had a pie eating contest of course! And it was A-W-E-S-O-M-E! From mini’s to middlers, slices of pie were placed in front of campers only be devoured in record timing. The end result, whether you won the contest or not, was fun. With blueberry pie coated faces and smiles from ear to ear, it was truly a sight to behold. Luckily, I had my camera rolling and was able to capture some of the pie eating action. When the counselors took the stage, it was Dylan of the white team that inhaled his blueberry pie faster than light. It seemed as though the contest had just begun when his hands went up and his plate was empty. Houdini would have been impressed. It was like a magic trick! “Now you see it….now you don’t!”

Before morning circle ended, our campers were entertained by Twin Springs own very talented CILT, Michael and counselor, Maggie, who sang a duet called “Beneath Your Beautiful” by Labrinth. It was a wonderful performance and such a beautiful song! Michael and Maggie were the first counselors to perform today. Later this afternoon, we will reconvene in the gym to watch the Counselor Talent Show. The show is always fun and showcases some of the amazing talent we have here at TSF! Stay tuned for more news and photos from this afternoon’s event. You won’t want to miss it!
